Why should we conserve water?

Water is cheap and freely available in the UK, right?

History

The victorian engineers certainly did us a lot of favours when it came to infrastructure and scientific/engineering advances.   One of the greatest and perhaps less appreciated was our water supplies and sewage systems.  In a relatively short space of time the end result was a cheap, reliable and clean water supply.  Something which we all take for granted.  Our temperate climate and world famous rainfall (British symbols of red buses, rain macs and umbrellas) all point to a rather wet, but healthy position in terms of water.  But The daily Mail recently rain a story which suggests that we have less than a plentiful supply of water “Less water per head than Egypt
